The Experts

World Class Speakers

President and Co-Creator of ImagingU and ScanLabMR

Matthew Hayes is a lifelong learner with over two decades of experience as an MRI, CT, and X-ray technologist. Since 2003, he has worked across every facet of Radiology, ranging from a tech assistant, student, tech, chief tech, educator and imaging director.

While serving as a professor of MRI at a local university, Matthew recognized the lack of education and training tools in the field. In 2014, he co-founded ImagingU, an online MRI and CT education platform providing interactive and engaging courses that help students and technologists grasp complex topics through animation, visual aids and interactive lectures. Matthew went on to create the world’s first quantitative MRI and CT simulator software in 2019.

Aside from his work at ImagingU and ScanLab, Matthew consults throughout the world on Cardiac MRI, protocol management, MRI physics and safety, and workflow efficiency, helping universities, health care organizations and individuals improve patient care and outcomes.

Dr. John Kirsch

PHD

Director of the Human Imaging Core at Massachusetts General Hospital

Dr. Kirsch is a Radiological Physicist by training and education, having obtained his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1984. His interest and experience has been in MRI technology for the majority of his career. He contributed significantly to the early pioneering development of clinical applications for MRI as well as in the design and improvement of clinical MRI scanners as a Principal Scientist for more than 30 years at Siemens.

He is currently a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, and is the Director of the Human Imaging Core at the Athinoula A Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging in the Department of Radiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital responsible for 8 whole body MRI scanners dedicated to research.

His primary interest is in quality control, safety, and system performance as it pertains to general clinical image quality, accuracy and precision of quantitative imaging biomarkers, and in the continued improvements of general clinical imaging applications.
